Georgie the Gentle Little Ghost

Georgie and the Robbers by Robert Bright was one of my favorite books growing up. I remember my mom ordered it from the Scholastic Book Club in first grade. This was not something we did very often, so it was a BIG deal. It came with a shiny new 45 RPM record to read along with. I played it until it went scratchy and skipped so much that even a three penny stack couldn’t hold that needle to the groove.

For those of you unfamiliar with Georgie. He lived in the Whittaker house. “Every night as everybody knows, Georgie has to creak the stairs and squeak the parlor door to remind Mr. and Mrs. Whittaker it’s time to go to bed and to sleep.” Robert Bright went on to write twelve Georgie books.

These are a few of my own gentle little ghosts that have been sitting on my desk for a long time. I figured it was time to finish some of the unfinished projects and make way for new ones.

I have “Georgie to the Rescue!” I ordered as a small child, also, and only got the record. I didn’t listen to it much, since I didn’t have the book. I prefered to follow along. It is in very good condition. I have a player, and might just have to listen to it now with my 4 year old. Your illustrations are very nice. We love books at our house!
