Into the Woods Set

This is my set design for Theatre on the Bay’s production of “Into the Woods.”
Happily it came together with our stock risers, some long backdrop trees and a very small budget. The killer item was that rotating tower! Wonderful musical!
I was Art Director and and Side Rail monkey :) for most of their productions, later moving into the the role of President.
It’s easier to slide into a studio chair than scale a fifty foot ladder with a two year old in tow these days!

Vintage Compact

Yes it’s true… I have my own tool box containing, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, levels, power drills, pliers and far too many paintbrushes! (can there be too many?)
Yes I have my own table saw and can yield a pneumatic nail gun with ease and many of my clothes have some form of paint on them.
Then there is the girly side. The one that likes shoes and purses…oh my!
Well look what Mr. Mailman delivered today! It’s a vintage 1940′s maybe 50′s unused Volupte Vanity Compact with swing lock! Isn’t that a mouthful of sugar and spice!
It has a empty compartment for…..maybe unfiltered cigarettes? (non-smoker)
A compartment with a screen for loose powder and a puff!
And a refillable lipstick tube.
If any one has any more information about this goodie, please let me know!
I just thought it was sparkly… and I do get distracted by sparklies!
(Girly Squeal!!)

Kids Bedroom Mural

This is the mural in Liv’s room, a work in progress to be sure.
It covers all four walls and an alcove. The idea is that she, (my little nature fairy) walks into a fairyland to visit the frog price and all of her nature friends.
The room had a strange alcove, with hanging ball and chain globe lights. I think in 1971 it was meant to house a dresser. Instead, it’s a fairy tree house with a dimensional tree top overhang.
The clouded ceiling was a killer on the neck!
This works for now.
I love going in this room!
I wonder what it will become as she grows up!
